Latrobe Street Mission is always in need of operating expenses to be able to continue helping the homeless community that we serve daily.
Operating expenses are things like our gas bill to heat the Mission and run the ovens in our kitchen. The electric bill to keep our lights on. Water that is needed for showers, laundry, washing dishes, and restroom facilities. Providing food, hygiene products, cleaning supplies, and toiletries are all operating expenses. Paying our small staff is also something that we need to take care of in order to operate a great place for the public to seek help. As you can imagine, these things add up quickly for a place like ours that is serving hundreds of individuals every month.
We often can receive grants for construction, but it is very difficult to receive them for operating expenses.
For the last 15 years, Latrobe Street Mission has been doing what we always do; getting people off the streets, keeping them safe, feeding them, clothing them, and giving them a chance to become independent again.
