Ed’s Story

This is Ed.

Ed first came to Latrobe Street Mission in February of 2021 from Ohio. He had been homeless and staying with friends for several years. Ed was also struggling to keep his sobriety. He needed several surgeries which would help him to walk without difficulty. This was a long and arduous process, especially staying at a homeless shelter during a pandemic. Staff at Latrobe Street along with other community organizations were a huge part in Ed's journey. Ed left our Mission on November 10th of 2021 for hip surgery. After 2 months and 2 surgeries and lots of physical therapy, Ed is back.

One month after returning to Latrobe Street, Ed has a job, got rid of his walker and wheel chair, got his drivers license and is progressing faster than most able bodied individuals do. He has the HEART of a lion and the WILL of warrior. We can not wait to see where he is in a few months time. Go Ed Go!

This is just one story of a resident that has used our mission and its resources to better their lives and move forward into being independent for the first time in a long time. Thank you for all you do. Your generous donations let us help people like Ed every day.
